The Public Fundraiser

The Public is Western New York’s true alternative newsweekly, covering the whole spectrum of Western New York culture, from arts to politics, and providing a platform for the work of the region’s finest artists and writers.

It’s been a labor of love, and not always an easy one. At the beginning of this month, we hit a financial wall and suspended print publication for a few weeks.

We have taken some time to regroup and reflect. Now we’re ready to turn the lights back on. So we’re throwing a party to celebrate — and to raise a few dollars to keep the lights on!

Join us for music and a chance to win cool stuff from our friends at Hotel Henry, Ró, ISSA MARS, Bureau, Billy Club, Remedy House, Black Monarchy, Paradise Wine, Oxford Pennant, The Finery, North Park Theatre, Burning Books, Revolver Records, Just Buffalo Literary Center, Peach Mag, Boxcar, Ballyhoo, Lucky Day, Babeville, Talking Leaves, Tipico, El Buen Amigo, Community Beer Works, Buffalo Distilling Company, Half & Half Boutique, Squeaky Wheel Film & Media Art Center, Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Studio 806, and more.

Kirsten Azan, baptized BAMBII, is one of Canada’s most compelling new DJs. Gracing stages like Brooklyn’s AFROPUNK, she has performed across North America, Asia, and Europe as a solo artist and in support of artists like Mykki Blanco, Kelela, and MikeQ. Her long-running, Toronto-based event series ‘JERK’ is still hitting capacity and true to its roots. Her work has been publicized in DAZED, Wonderland, CRACK, and The FADER. She is currently working on her EP.

Can't make it to the party, but want to show your support?
